The Bilingual Revisor, Translation Administrative will be part of the national team in which they will work with lawyers and professionals in all of our offices across Canada, where English is the predominant language. An employee in this position will be expected to work on translation materials in English or French for lawyers or professionals who understand and communicate only in English or French. This national Translation team must have bilingual staff available to respond to the requests of the Firm. Bilingualism (French and English) is therefore a requirement for this position.
As a Bilingual Revisor, Administrative Translation, you will be:
- Providing firm-wide internal and external communication translation services (non-legal, non-billable) from English to French (or vice versa), in accordance with the administrative translation process across the firm.
- Proofreading, revising, and editing documents translated by external and internal translators, the translation assistant platform, and Generative AI tools.
- Capturing the essence of Firm’s messages so that all communications read as if written in official language of choice (French or English) of the audience.
- Providing clear and consistent internal communications in both French and English, in collaboration with the Administrative translation Director, Manager, and team, the Manager, Clients & Markets (Communications, QC), C&M colleagues, and other internal stakeholders.
- Validating and ensuring our French external communications are relevant and compelling for our clients and other stakeholders, by understanding the Québec legal market, our clients, and the industries in which they operate, our practice and industry groups, as well as the capabilities of our lawyers in serving the market.
- Working closely with the Administrative Translation and the broader Clients & Markets teams on the development of projects and priorities, in support of the firm’s strategy.
- Offering proactive suggestions to continuous process improvement, and advancing the most positive and inclusive language in all communications.
- Liaising with various key stakeholders (partners, C-level, directors, and managers) to discuss and reach consensus under tight deadlines.
- Providing sound specialized advice to the broader Clients & Markets team, management, and co-workers and collaborating in the ongoing development of the McT Glossary, in collaboration with the Administrative Translation and the Communications teams.
As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:
- Completed degree in translation required. Additional education in marketing, communications, business or a related field is a strong asset.
- Certified translator (OTTIAQ member).
- At least 10 years of experience as a revisor in a professional services environment; experience in a law firm is a significant asset.
- Fully bilingual with strong written and verbal business communication skills in both French and English.
- Experience with translation management tools, translation assistants and AI translation tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills (in French and English).
- Thorough understanding of the dynamics of a fast-paced environment and of the organizational structure of professional services firms.
- Excellent technology and forward-thinking skills.
- Solutions-oriented mindset, tactfulness, and positive approach to change.
- Superior attention to detail and strong professional writing skills (in French and English), and ability and drive to deliver a first-class product.
- Ability to manage priorities, negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, work under pressure, and adhere to challenging deadlines.
- Availability to work outside business hours (nights and weekends) as needed, and to be working from the office, as needed by projects and priorities.
