Join our dynamic Finance team as an Ethical Walls Analyst, where your expertise will be pivotal in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of our firm’s operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend legal knowledge with finance acumen, playing a crucial part in our firm’s success.


This position can be based out of Vancouver or Calgary. McCarthy Tétrault employees benefit from a hybrid work environment.

 

Work Hours : 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm

 

As an Ethical Walls Analyst, you will:

  • Serve as the go-to expert for all inquiries related to ethical walls (screens) within the firm.
  • Work closely with General Counsel and Risk Management to devise solutions for complex business and legal conflicts.
  • Oversee the creation and management of confidential screens across all office locations.
  • Coordinate with various teams for time-sensitive onboarding and ensuring compliance with ethical screens.
  • Prepare and distribute crucial “no-contact” memos and audit reports, managing sensitive information effectively.
  • Lead in managing security for specialized working groups and confidential files.
  • Regularly review and update screens, ensuring their integrity and accuracy.
  • Analyze and optimize existing screens, identifying opportunities for improvements.
  • Support the conflicts and file-opening team as necessary, including performing conflict of interest searches on a timely basis.
  • Available for on-call and weekend rotation to cover urgent conflict searches after hours.

As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, database management, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Strong foundation in accounting principles.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is a valuable asset.
  • Excellent multitasking abilities, capable of working under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with business and legal terminology.
