We are recruiting for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our team in our Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary or Toronto office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in data visualization, data modeling and process automation, and will be responsible for creating interactive dashboards, developing and automating finance processes and reports, and managing data across platforms. Salary Range (Toronto or Vancouver): $95,000 - $105,000 annually
The offered salary may vary based on the candidate’s job-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.
As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will be:
- Developing interactive dashboards, alerts and reporting templates to offer real-time actionable insights to stakeholders within the Finance department and to other internal stakeholders (Senior Leadership, Partners, etc.).
- Leading the ongoing development and automation of finance reports, digital forms and processes, enhancing self-serve capabilities for internal stakeholders through BI tools and platforms, optimizing the end-user experience.
- Managing, updating, and validating data across multiple platforms, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Executing both routine and ad hoc reporting encompassing various firm dimensions like practice, region, industry, timekeeper, and more.
- Providing technical expertise for the firm's finance digitization initiative, playing a pivotal role in its successful realization.
- Planning and executing project management processes like requirements gathering, process mapping, quality assurance, rollout strategies, communication strategies, and change management plans for the firm’s finance digitization efforts.
- Producing practical demonstrations showcasing the utilization of products tailored to our unique environments.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal (billing analysts, billing lawyers, paralegals, legal assistants, etc.) and external stakeholders, offering them comprehensive support and insights.
As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:
- University degree in a related field (e.g. Data Science, Computer Science, Finance or Engineering).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably acquired within a legal or professional services environment.
- Experience building data models and dashboards with Power BI (preferred, including complex DAX queries and paginated reports), SSRS (preferred) or similar BI tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.).
- Proficiency with TSQL, with an emphasis on intricate query formulation. Familiarity with database maintenance is valued.
- Capability to design automated alert systems using tools like SSRS and Power Automate.
- Knowledge of enterprise solutions such as Power Apps and ServiceNow, and coding languages like Python & JavaScript.
- Mastery in MS Excel, inclusive of VBA scripting for report automation.
- Familiarity with AI agents creation (e.g. using Copilot Studio) for process automation would be an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; adept at creating meaningful insights from source data.
- Very strong written and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to summarize and convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. Capacity to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external clients and respect confidentiality.
- Strong ability to prioritize concurrent activities, follow through on open items and provide status updates, unprompted. Deadline oriented.
- Self-Starter & quick learner – willing to spend time investigating data on your own to minimize disruption to SMEs.
