We are recruiting for a Team Lead, IP to join our team in our Vancouver office. The successful candidate must have a minimum 8 years’ of experience in a professional work environment with relevant administrative and Intellectual Property experience, and will be responsible for supporting the IP team by coordinating the workflow process, support training and onboarding, and acting as a liaison between the IP team and its lawyers regarding workflow. McCarthy Tétrault employees benefit from a hybrid work environment with 3 days in the office per week.
Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000

As a Team Lead, Intellectual Property, you will be:
- Supporting the IP team by coordinating the workflow process (assessing and prioritizing workload, assigning work requests, overseeing transfer of files in and out of the firm, etc.).
- Working with IP team to ensure processes and guidelines are followed, reconciling client requests for accuracy as per Department processes and procedures. Identifying and submitting recommendations for changes to procedures to Managers, when necessary.
- Acting as a liaison between the IP team and its lawyers regarding workflow and to address and resolve escalated concerns and/or issues.
- Managing the collection, maintenance, and updating of the Group's knowledge base, with a particular focus on its standard form precedents, to ensure that a comprehensive set of knowhow materials is accessible to all members of the IP Group.
- Facilitating the onboarding process for new employees; organizing mentors and developing training schedules.
- Acting as a subject matter expert and trainer by creating resources and delivering training to support onboarding and ongoing development of team members.
- Coordinating coverage for vacation and other absences within the group.
- Fostering teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication within the team.
- Coordinating with team members and redirect inquiries to other support resources within the Firm as needed to ensure efficient and appropriate utilization of resources
- Providing back up for the docketing of file deadlines, as well as a review of the existing work product to ensure quality control.
- Other duties as assigned.
As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a professional work environment with relevant administrative and Intellectual Property experience
- Post Secondary Diploma with specialization in legal/office or equivalent experience.
- In-depth knowledge of intellectual property laws and regulations, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and industrial designs.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Leadership certifications or training an asset.
- Excellent communications skills in English (verbal and written) are required. Fluency in French would be considered an asset.
- Highly developed analytical, problem solving, decision making, conflict management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to communicate in a variety of ways in order to ensure understanding and influence the outcome of situations.
- Patience, flexibility and an ability to effectively manage difficult situations.
- Well organized with meticulous attention to detail and strong proof-reading skills.
- Confident in working independently, prioritizing and making day-to-day decisions, with the judgment to seek supervisory assistance when appropriate.
- Works effectively with other team members and demonstrates tact, respect, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Provides a high level of service to colleagues and clients.
