The Bilingual Translator, Administrative Services will be part of the national team in which they will work with lawyers and professionals in all of our offices across Canada, where English is the predominant language. An employee in this position will be expected to work on translation materials in English or French for lawyers or professionals who understand and communicate only in English or French. This national Translation team must have bilingual staff available to respond to the requests of the Firm. Bilingualism (French and English) is therefore a requirement for this position.


We are recruiting for a Bilingual Translator to join our team. The successful  candidate must have a minimum of five years of experience in administrative translation in a legal or professional services environment and will be responsible for translating documents from English to French, ensuring high-quality communications, utilizing translation technologies, assisting with bilingual revisions and terminology management, and supporting related translation tasks as needed. 


As a Bilingual Translator, Administrative Services, you will be:

  • Translating from English into French all assigned documents. 
  • Capturing the essence of the messages the firm is trying to convey so that all communications read as if written in French and not a translation from English; keeping within the Vision and Values of the Firm.
  • Utilizing the translation assistant platform for processing translations, and staying updated on new technological advancements, including Generative AI tools, relevant to translation.
  • Assisting with the bilingual revision of some of the documents, as needed.
  • Participating in creating the term base and internal Translation Memory by doing some terminology research and document alignment.
  • Managing the intake of translation requests (as needed).
  • Any other related tasks. 

As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:

  • Completed undergraduate university degree in translation. 
  • 6-8 years of experience in translation. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in a professional services environment.
  • Fully bilingual with strong written and verbal business communication skills in both French and English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (French and English); excellent understanding of the English Language with all its subtleties.
  • Strong writing skills (French and English).
  • Superior organizational skills and great attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work under pressure whilst adhering to challenging deadlines.
  • Ability and drive to deliver a first-class product.
  • Certified translator (member of OTTIAQ).
  • Knowledge of memoQ an asset .
