We are recruiting a Paralegal to join our team in our Toronto office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in Canadian immigration and will be responsible for working closely with lawyers on Canadian immigration cases, preparing and drafting various applications (work permits, visas, study permits, CAQ, etc.), acting as a point of contact for clients and managing communications, organizing the submission of required documents, and using and maintaining our software and databases. McCarthy Tétrault employees enjoy a hybrid work environment.


As a Paralegal, you will be:

  • Working closely with lawyers on international mobility files.
  • Preparing and drafting work permit applications, temporary resident visas, study permits and Quebec acceptance certificates for studies or work.
  • Preparing TRP and rehabilitation applications.
  • Communicating with clients to gather relevant information and documentation and assisting in drafting various correspondences.
  • Submitting application through the various electronic portals.
  • Following-up on applications with the various immigration authorities.
  • Organizing the filing and submission of necessary documents for all the above-mentioned applications.
  • Using and updating our software and databases.
  • Coordinating, reviewing, summarizing and organizing data.
  • All other related tasks.

As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:

  • University diploma related to the position or college diploma in paralegal studies (or equivalent) issued by a recognized educational institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of immigration procedures and governmental agencies.
  • U.S. immigration knowledge, an asset.
  • Bilingual (French and English), an asset.
  • Ability to maintain a fast pace and manage multiple demands under pressure by prioritizing, being practical and results oriented.
  • Superior interpersonal and client service skills, great attention to accuracy and detail along with exceptional analytical skills.
